Expanded cinema / installation / performance

The expanded cinema performance FACES was our first experiment using 16mm and 8mm projectors and live sound. It was developed in collaboration with media artist and musician Jakob Penca. as well as the musician Alex Kretzer.

Using old 16mm teaching films from Germany from the 70s, we built a story of evolution beginning with insects going to the universe, humans attempting to travel with them by doing rituals in nature or using drugs... ending up in abstract hand processed painted film and live distortion of the film by burning.

16mm / 8mm Film projections were destroyed and modified live by sound, followed by projections of film which was processed with all kinds of analogue techniques, such as with paint, chlorine, hydrochloric acid, etc..
